“I still don’t understand how this works.” Kacy announced into his orange device that was pressed to his ear like a cellphone.

He waited but heard nothing in reply.

“Oh right.” His thumb waved over top of a button and pressed it, holding it down.

“I still don’t understand how this works.” Kacy repeated; the device was like a walkie talkie where the message could only be ‘sent’ if the button was held down, Kacy was still getting used to it, after a struggled explanation from Harvey about how to use it while using it.

Kacy released the button so he could hear the incoming reply.

“Neither do I, but it does work, and it’s free so don’t question it.” Harvey’s voice rang from the device.

Kacy shrugged. Not that Harvey could see him do it.

He held down the button. “Meeting up and talking about this would be easier than using the magic Digimon catchers.” Kacy suggested and took his thumb off the button.

“That could work, any idea where?”

“In the Mainstreet? I have some crap I need to do there.”

“I guess since Downtown is out of the question after the other day with that first Digimon attack, but a certain place would have been better.”

Kacy looked at the empty Chinese take away container that was set on his desk, after eating the previous night’s dinner for lunch this day.

“The Dragon Wah, it’s a Chinese food shop in Mainstreet.”

“Sounds good, I’ll meet you there in an hour.”

“Alright.”

“So has anything else happened your end?”

“Not that I know of.”

Kacy by this point wasn’t paying much attention to what Harvey was saying.

His thumb came off and on the ‘call’ button as he replied to Harvey’s statements and conspiracies with simple “Yeah’s” and “Ah-Hah’s” while he strolled passed the floor length mirror in his room pouting and pushing his hair out of his face as he caught sight his reflection. He bent at his back and looked to see ‘if his bum looked alright in his shorts’ he nodded quickly and said. “Nice.” Poking his tongue out of his mouth and winking one of his eyes.

Routinely he took his thumb off of the button and heard Harvey’s voice chime out of the device.

“Wait what?”

“Oh, right, sorry.” Kacy stepped away from the mirror.

“I guess I’ll see you in Mainstreet.”

“Right.”

“Okay, bye?”

Kacy took his ‘magic Digimon catcher’ away from his face and pushed it into the pocket of his shorts.

“Fang.” Kacy nudged the Digimon, who was sleeping on the floor, with his foot.

Fangsimon opened his green eyes and looked up at Kacy. “Whuut?” He stirred.

“I am going to meet up with Harvey… ummm… Ferricmon’s partner.” He struggled to remember the other Digimon’s name.

Fangsimon stretched his legs while still lying on the floor before he got up onto his feet.

Kacy walked over to his closet and took out a bundle of towels that seemed to be humming. He threw the pile of material on the bed and unravelled the towel mass to reveal the beeping yellow device he had obtained from the neighbour.

“I guess there is no harm in bringing it along. Except this beeping is driving me mad!” He picked up the device and moved it into a backpack to help silence its relentless noise.

“Alright, little buddy of mine.” He said to Fangsimon. “I’ll be back soon.” He swung the bag onto one shoulder and made for the bedroom door.

Kacy shoved his car key into the door of his 1992 Mazda Roadster. It was a small car, silver in colour, low to the ground with a smooth black hood. He opened the door and swung his bag onto the passages seat, the small car only housed two seats.

Kacy got the car when he was sixteen from his dad. After Kacy had gotten his learners license his dad was set to teach his son how to drive, his issue was he didn’t trust Kacy with the family car. Kacy returned home from school one day to find the tiny car in the driveway.

For some young adult males the Roadster may be embarrassing to drive Kacy was very much an exception to this. He loved the car for two reasons, the first one being because with it he didn’t have to walk everywhere and secondly because his dad brought it for him.

Kacy sat in the driver’s seat, careful not to bump his head on the roof as he got in. Kacy turned the key in the igniton and the car roared into life. Pulling the gear stick into reverse Kacy’s foot gently pressed the accelerator and the car backed out of the drive.

Dirt rolled up from the gravel road as Kacy drove from the country part of town into the city and towards the Mainstreet.

“This is really good.” Harvey said through a mouth full of noodles and stir-fry vegetables.

The two men sat at a table together in the small Chinese take away store called The Dragon Wah.

Kacy’s fork rummaged around Harvey’s plate picking out the things he liked and eating them while he waited for his own order to be made and brought out to him.

“The question that is daunting me…”-Harvey said sounding irritated as he watched Kacy pick at his food. –“what did your parents say about the area that was, sort of, destroyed?”

“They were okay about it. I just told them the truth.”

“They believed you?”

“Sure, why wouldn’t they?”

“But… never mind.”

Kacy didn’t really understand why Harvey would question the trust his parents had in him. Kacy didn’t bother prodding the issue he just dropped the conversation and brought up something else.

“You were the first to fight a big bad Digimon. If either of us has an idea of what’s going on I am guessing you do?” Kacy asked his voice muffled by the fork he had held in his mouth.

Harvey arched and eyebrow at him. “How the hell am I supposed to know anything about this?”

“Is that not what you were blabbing to me on the phone about?” Kacy kept his voice calm not taken back at all at Harvey’s snappy question.

“They are just ideas.” Harvey sighed. “My brother said that maybe we were given our Digimon back so we could stop these bigger Digimon. That much makes sense. But it doesn’t explain why Digimon have suddenly starting attacking.”

“Maybe it was just a freak thing. Maybe those two were the last.” Kacy suggested.

“I’d like to believe that but it seems too random.” Harvey eyebrows furrowed.

“Humans have a hard time understanding randomness.” An unfamiliar voice said to the two men.

“They constantly have to find patterns in things find a reason for every occurrence in this world and that nothing can just happen and just stop without having some kind of configuration to when it will happen again or if it will ever stop. That’s why coincidence it always fun to talk about.”

Kacy turned his head to the source of the casual sounding voice.

A worker of The Dragon Wah wandered over to the table he had dark blonde hair that stuck off of his head in waves of gold, intelligent green eyes, behind a pair of glasses, surveying Kacy and Harvey as if they were seeing the conversation. The man wore a dirty apron over top of his bright clothing. A singlet that was probably originally a shirt that this man had cut up to give it tassels of tie-dye colour hanging off of the sleeves and base of the shirt revealing his stomach between the stringy material. The apron covered most of his pants but it seemed they were grey loose fitting track pants, his bare feet stood atop of the bottoms which were ripped and torn from being worn and dragged along the ground.

Kacy could tell that by this man’s get up was that he did not give a thought to what anyone thinks of him.

Kacy neglected to notice the plate of food in the man’s hand until he stuck it down on the table.

“Usually I wouldn’t have been stuffing getting up to give you this but your conversation seemed interesting enough for me to be bothered walking over.”

Kacy gave the man a confused look not too worried about anything he had said.

“You were listening to us?” Harvey barked.

“It was hard not to.”- The blonde looked around. –“You two are the only ones here. And your friend isn’t exactly quiet when he talks.”

“He’s not my friend.” Harvey leaned on the back of his chair.

Kacy let Harvey’s comment slide right over his head he was more interested in listening to the worker.

“Funny thing is I caught a few of the words in your conversation.” – The man pulled a chair up to the table and sat down next to Kacy. –“Specifically the word Digimon, I haven’t heard anyone use it in a long time.”

“You know what Digimon are?” Kacy asked even though he knew the answer would obviously be yes.

“Sounds as crazy to you hearing it come out of my lips as it does for me to hear it from yours. You’re lucky you two seem cool. So I’ll let you in on a secret.”-The brightly dressed blonde paused looking around suspiciously even though he had just confirmed there was no one else here.-“I used to have a Digimon. Crazy little thing she was jumping around my room all the time. I was just damn lucky my parents used to get so damn high they wouldn’t believe it if they saw her.” He laughed.

Kacy laughed along but Harvey kept his face staunch.

“I would guess you heard about the attack in Downtown. What I can’t guess is how you know the name Digimon.” Avan put his bare feet up on the table looking relaxed.

“Sure I can tell you but can I at least know your name?” Kacy asked grinning at the man’s carefree personality.

“Right, name’s Avan-Fern Dolby.” The man nodded to Kacy.

Harvey scoffed. “What the hell kind of name is that?”

“Damn hippy parents and their damn baby names is what I blame it on.” Avan explained.

“I’m Kacy, by the way, and this is Harvey.”

“Pleasure.” Avan grinned.

“I have one more question before I answer yours.” Kacy pulled his bag up of the floor and onto his lap; unzipping it he revealed the blaring yellow device and showed it to Avan.

“This wouldn’t happen to be yours?” Kacy inquired.

“Coincidence really is a funny thing isn’t it.” Avan took the device from Kacy and gazed at it. “I’d never thought I’d see this thing again. How long has it been 7 years? I’m not even going to ask where you got it from.” Avan said to the two men while still looking at the device.

The noise was still repeating the painful monotonous beep until Avan pressed the button that relieved it after trying a few of them. That confirmed it to Kacy that it must have a connection to Avan and he had tried to relieve the device my pressing the same button on many different occasions.

“Just don’t press that other one.” Kacy informed the blonde man while pointing at a similar button on the other side of the device.

Avan nodded and obeyed and set the device down on the table.

With that Kacy wanted to continue his conversation with Harvey but not about why the Digimon were appearing but instead he wanting information on the problem in front of him, the mysterious devices that were connected to their Digimon.

“So these things, how do they work? Mine just sort of stays blank.” Kacy revealed his orange device from his pocket.

Avan looked as Harvey leant over checking Kacy’s device.“I’m not too sure. My brother and I sort of just play around with them and figure stuff out. When me and you were talking on them yours was ‘active’ wasn’t it?” Harvey asked Kacy.

“Yeah.” Kacy nodded. “It just had a whole lot of just random menus and things on it.”

"Ok, that is like a mode or something for it.” Harvey pressed in the side of the orange electronic and it came to life with a multitude of orange menus and words.

“It works almost like a cell phone but not as convenient. They seem to only be able to link with each other.” Harvey prodded the screen at a small area that had blinking coloured dots.

“These are like your contacts; they are just our devices… Red, Grey and Avan’s Yellow…” Harvey paused and studied the screen closer.

Kacy looked at the flashing coloured dots and noticed something that was off. “There wasn’t a green one before was there?” Kacy looked up at the older man.

“No. So obviously there are more people with these things then just us. We have no idea who they are or how many there could be.” Harvey sat back in his chair and ran his hands through his short hair.

“Why would we need to find others? I believe you have agreed to fight off any attacks that happen to be Digimon involved and so far Fangsimon has held his own and defeated one of these other Digimon.” Kacy arched an eyebrow.

“I haven’t agreed to anything. I don’t want to have to spend my day fighting off monsters that have no place in this world.” Harvey snapped.

“Well neither do I really.” Kacy crossed his legs.

Avan let out a deep breath. “Neither of you two want involvement in this?”

“No.” The other males said in unison.

“Sorry to burst your bubbles but you two are already involved. I suggest you see it through. Maybe, like you said it these attacks could randomly stop.” Avan smiled.

Kacy let his mouth curve into a small grin and Harvey scowled.

Avan nodded. “You don’t suppose these things could track the other ones do you?” Avan bent the conversation back to the devices; he had his own in the palm of his hand switched to the same mode as Kacy’s currently was in.

Harvey shrugged.

“I am taking you up on what you said before. That ‘we don’t know how many there could be’ I am guessing in total there will be eight of them.” Avan said his green eyes not looking up from the screen of his yellow device.

“Eight? Why?” Harvey queried.

“Look closer at those coloured dots. There are five lit up. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Grey. But look closer again, between them are three darker black circles that I assume will turn to colours once those devices are turned on.” Avan explained.

Kacy nodded taking in Avan’s idea though he was not one hundred percent confident that Avan was right. Kacy didn’t have much to think about the whole situation. Even though he and Harvey had just met Avan already it seemed that the blonde man knew more about the situation then Kacy did and Harvey seems to be figuring it out for himself. It made Kacy feel withheld but he didn’t let that break his confidence with these new Digimon involved people he had met recently.

“So Mr. Colours, you’re all for seeing where these Digimon attacks lead us to?” Kacy asked Avan.

Avan nodded. “I don’t see why I wouldn’t bother looking into it. Beside”- He stared at his device. “-I’ll have Shettimon back to do all the hard work.”

Suddenly from behind the counter an angry looking chef burst out into the seating area of the takeout joint; a greasy tea towel in hand. Kacy watched the man as he stormed towards them until he was a few inches away from Avan.

“Avan-Fern!” He shouted in a heavy Asian accent.“I am paying you to work. Not to sit down with your friends and talk.”

“Hey, Hey. Didn’t you hear the fine customer? I am Mr. Colours now. Emphasis on Mr.” Avan lounged back in his seat.

The angry man, who Kacy assumed was the owner of The Dragon Wah, quivered before slapping Avan in the back of the head with the dirty cloth that was in his fist.“You cocky son of bitch, get back up and start cleaning the fryers.” The man fumed off back to where he came from.

Kacy looked disgusted at the grease and grime that was now smeared in Avan’s blonde curly mass of hair; it was apparent that Avan didn’t care for the mess.

Avan sighed and pulled himself off of the chair. “If you guys can truly be bothered waiting for me to finish my slavery for the day it would be nice to continue our conversation.” He straightened his apron before walking behind the counter to continue his work.

Harvey rolled his eyes. He pushed off the ground, so the chair he was on was balancing on its two back legs and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants.

Kacy, finally given the opportunity, began to tuck into his meal, which Avan had left on the table some time ago. Kacy twirled noodles around his fork and raised it to his mouth; the assortment of meats and vegetables were cold now but Kacy didn’t mind.

“This is ass.” Harvey complained slapping a heavy hand on the table.

The side of Kacy’s mouth twitched into a half sympathetic smile, he didn’t know what he could say to Harvey. Kacy was already getting the gist of the older man’s personality and to respond to his short negative comments.

Moments passed by before something that Kacy thought was notable happened.Harvey’s device let out two audible beeps before a voice rang from the speakers of the electronic which caused it to vibrate along the table’s plastic surface.

“Harvey?”

Harvey scrambled into an upright posture in his chair and grabbed the device off of the table and held it to his ear.

“Bede? What’s up?” Harvey said to the cell phone like gadget.

“You should ask what’s down. There is one at school Harvey.”

“Wait… what?” Harvey replied sounding genuinely confused.

“A Digimon?” Kacy interjected listening to the conversation between Harvey and who he assumed was his younger brother.

Harvey’s eyes widened.“Bede don’t go near it! You don’t have Moimon or Ferricmon with you now. I’m coming, just please this time listen and don’t get involved until I get there.” Harvey shouted down the digital device while frantically standing from the table.

Avan, who had obviously heard Harvey’s distress, came from behind the counter.

“There’s a Digimon at the local high school.” Kacy explained to the blonde worker.Just before Harvey was about to burst out the door and run Avan stopped him.

“You’re not going to run there are you” Avan said to Harvey as he was just about to burst out of the door. “It’s way across the bridge.”

Harvey stood looking aggravated and jumpy.

“And guessing you don’t have a Digimon with you. What is your great plan when you get there?” Avan asked.

Harvey stepped towards Avan looking as if he was about to throw a punch.“I’m the one who has a Digimon right now.”- Avan held out his yellow device. –“And I’ve got a van we can take, out the back.”

Harvey growled. “There’s no time to go out back and get your van. Kacy has a car.”

Kacy let out the breath he was holding unconsciously when his name was mentioned. Without having any input into the situation; Harvey had Kacy by the arm and was dragging him outside with Avan trailing behind.

Kacy pulled the keys out of the tight front pocket of his shorts and unlocked the small silver soft top car.

“It’s only a two seater.” He explained.

“Pull the top down.” Avan quickly suggested opening the passenger door and sitting down. He reached up and pressed the release button on the left side of the roof to unbuckle it.

Kacy followed suit on the driver’s side of the roadster. The black top came away from the windscreen and Harvey tore it back and sat on the pile of black folded material that collapsed behind the two seats.

“Drive!” Harvey shouted at Kacy.

Kacy stuck the keys in the ignition of the small Mazda and it came to life. He put his foot on the break and pulled the hand break upright. White knuckles on the gear stick he pulled it to reverse and accelerated the car out of the parking spot. Again on the gear stick he pushed it up to drive and floored it down the road of Mainstreet well over the speed limit.

Kacy, like most of the town’s people, had been a student at the local high school. He knew his way there well and in no time the Mazda roadster screeched to a halt in the school’s car park. It was apparent that something was wrong as soon as the car had stopped and the men could see the condition of the asphalt that covered the car park. Deep cracks had formed in the concrete; Kacy thought it was almost impossible for the concrete to crack considering how thick it is. Kacy knew because the school had a huge pool previously where the car park is now and rather than removing the pool from the ground the school found it cheaper and easier to just cover it.

The men also noticed a blaring alarm echoing around the school buildings.“That’s the lock down alarm.” Avan noted.

“I don’t think that would help in this kind of situation.” Kacy said looking around for any signs of a potential Digimon.

“BEDE!” Harvey was not waiting around. He took off running towards the class room blocks.

Avan ran after him and soon after Kacy followed.

“BEDE! BEDE!” Harvey’s voice shouted in front.

Every so often they would see students out of class confused and scared. Avan did good to direct them to a class room telling them to stay put.

“BEDE!” Harvey called again.

“Harvey! Instead of being a fucking idiot actually think.”-Avan shouted to the troubled brother. –“He’s probably in class if the lockdown alarm is going. What class does he have this time?”

Harvey ran his hands through his hair and scrunched up his face. “Ummm… science, Physics.”

“Then check A block.” Avan suggested and quickly cut through the corridors, a much shorter distance that going around, towards the science block on the other side of the school.

Their feet slapped along chewing-gum-covered carpets that lined the schools hallways as they ran to find Harvey’s younger brother. Kacy’s breath was catching in his throat as he stumbled and panted after the much fitter males, he was already lagging behind.Kacy stopped and placed his hands on his knees and heaved heavily. Surely without Fangsimon Kacy wasn’t that needed in this fight and wouldn’t be missed if he stayed here for this moment. Kacy had expected Harvey to be a good fit runner but had predicted after meeting Avan that Avan wasn’t much of a hard worker and seemingly lazy. But Kacy seemed to be proven wrong even though he thought his first impressions of people were very accurate.

A rumbling began to rattle its loud booming vibrations down the hallway. Kacy’s attention was instantly focused on the noise and movement. He stood up straight from his crouched over position and tried to pin point the source, the instant thought of a potential Digimon came to his head but before he had a chance to react and figure something out the wall to his right suddenly burst in a spray of wood and pink batts, Kacy was thrown off his feet as splinters of timber and ancient dust flew from the damaged wall. The remaining wall collapsed around him and through the dust burning his eyes Kacy could just see the head of a huge drill bit billowing through the powdered air.

Avan was concerned. While absolutely delighted to have his old Digimon companion with him again, the fact that the lanky blue-haired man was missing was nagging at his thoughts.

Avan had gotten the two brothers together but Avan was ashamed to admit that in the glorious moment he had neglected to notice that Kacy was not with them. It took Avan a few valued minutes to persuade Harvey to help him find Kacy or even leave the class room so Avan could release his Digimon from his device, though Bede, the high school kid he just met, was all too keen to help find Kacy. The great crash and rumble was enough for Avan to eventually find Kacy with or without the brother’s help. Avan had taken off towards the direction of the chaotic sounds and Bede soon followed causing Harvey to trail along as well.

Shettimon ran beside Avan. She was a small Digimon, low to the ground but long. She was grey with yellow bands on her body and long tail. Small purple feet on the end of short legs moved her along the ground beside Avan. Atop of her shoulders was a large head with big dark green eyes. She had long floppy ears with a tuft of orange fur sitting between the set. Long whiskers stuck off of her face above her wide mouth and peach coloured nose.

“Kid, do you know what this Digimon is?” Avan asked the tall teenager.

“Fueller said it was called Drimogemon.” Bede replied jogging alongside Avan and his Digimon.

“Fueller? Is that what you have called them?” Avan assumed Bede was referring to the mysterious device that was connected with their Digimon.

“Yeah.” Bede grinned sheepishly.

“Nice.” Avan nodded reflecting the teenagers smile.

The trio of boys slowed down as they approached what was obviously the danger zone. Smokey air had engulfed the area from the apparent destruction that had occurred.

“Crusher Bone!” The call bellowed from the dust concealing its owner.

A wicked fast, giant, white bone burst from the cloud and hurled its way through the air.The aim was off and the bone hurtled into a corridor wall a few feet away from the trio. It was still close enough to give them a hell of a scare. The bone hammered its way through the wall exposing the outside areas of the school. Avan noted that the concrete, of what he could see, had deep trenches smashed through it.

“I don’t remember the school investing in those.” Avan said.

Bede nodded looking at the same thing Avan was. “They didn’t. Principle is going to be pissed.”

“Crusher Bone!”

The attack came again. But this time Shettimon was expecting it. She responded swiftly with her own battle cry.

“Acid Fire!” She took in a deep breath and green fire poured from her huge mouth. The fire made contact with the bone and a loud sizzling could be heard as the bone dissolved in the onslaught of acidic flames.

“Damn Shetti.” Avan grinned satisfied with his Digimon’s performance.

Shettimon happily raised her head high to the praise of her tamer.

Finally their enemy made itself know. The Digimon known as Drimogemon came bounding from the concealment of the buildings rubble. The huge drill bit on its nose spinning widely. Its white and purple fur covering its huge mole shaped body was tainted with grey from the destroyed areas of the school.

“Iron Drill Spin!” Its voice growled from its mouth thrusting its drill at Shettimon.

She made a jump to doge the attack. But her short legs made it hard to get a good lift. The Digimon’s screw like nose clipped her and spun her sideways into what remained of the partially destroy wall.

She got to her feet and appeared okay.

“Take him outside Shettimon. You’ll have more room.” Avan shouted.

Drimogemon turned his attention to the blonde who just made the noise.

Avan accepted it and made a dive for the gap in the wall. He made it through the hole but collapsed down unable to land of his feet on the concrete. He threw his hands up to cover his head as he rolled a few times from his remaining momentum. The scrapes and brusies he received didn’t faise Avan to much. The hearty blonde stood as quick as he could to get ready to move if the large Digimon made an attack.

As Avan has suspected Drimogemon followed him; easily smashing through the remained wall and stomping its way into the concrete flat of the school quad. With so much of the wall missing the roof of the school building began to sag with the movement came great moans from the metal and wood trying to stay upright.

“Bede!” Harvey’s voice tore through the air as he ushered his brother out of the building.

Harvey quickly followed.

“Crusher Bone!” The attack came again from Drimogemon but this time directed at the brothers.

Harvey made a quick doge. But Bede was trying to find his footing after being pulled out of the collapsing building. The bone hit him in the gut with an audible thud before sending him flying backwards against another corridors exterior wall.

Avan thought Harvey’s eyes would burst into flames. With what Avan would like to think was worry and hurt but it looked more like anger to him. Harvey’s hazel eyes blazing set on Drimogemon. He went to move for his brother but Drimogemon was set on not letting the brothers meet.

“Mole’s Claw!” Drimogemon brought his foot of heavy drills down, aiming for Harvey.

The older Norman avoided the attack again by falling to the ground and rolling out of the way.

The blow hit the concrete hard and shattered it.

“Acid Fire!” Shettimon’s flames pounded into Drimogemon’s side.

The mole Digimon let out a growl as Shettimon’s acidic attack burnt its fur and skin.

“Crusher Bone!”

Shettimon was quickly knocked aside by Drimogemon’s ruthless long range attack.

“Bede.” Harvey breathed getting to his feet and running to his brothers side.

Avan pressed his tongue against his teeth out of nervousness.

“Shettimon get it away from the buildings. We can’t trash the whole school.” Avan yelled his suggestion to his rabbit like partner.

Avan watched as his Digimon partner made a swift dive so she was behind Drimogemon.

“Acid Fire!” She bellowed sending a breath of green flames into Drimogemon’s back legs.

The mole Digimon belted forward to avoid the burn from Shettimon’s attack. Shettimon was quick to follow the larger champion Digimon as she attempted to heard it further away from the school buildings.

“Nice Work.” Avan called while beholding the sight of the Digimon fighting. Shettimon was swift enough to keep dodging Drimogemon’s powerful attacks. But hers just were appearing sufficient enough to take down the much stronger Digimon.

Avan pouted. He knew that this fight couldn’t continue like this. The state of the school was getting out of control and he guessed eventually people would want to start getting involved. He was grateful that for now the students were remaining indoors in the non-Digimon-occupied areas.

Accepting he couldn’t help his Digimon at the present he ran to the Norman brothers.

Bede was still down but he didn’t appear that injured to Avan, though Harvey’s distressed expression said otherwise.

“I’m alright Harvey. How many times do I have to tell you?” Bede battered away his brother with a limp hand.

“Stand him up.” Avan suggested.

Harvey looked irritated but the younger Norman looked that he obviously wanted to be up off the ground.

Avan helped Bede get up. Bede released a few grunts but otherwise sounded fine. He was a bit battered and bruised but was clearly not in any dire need for medical attention.

Suddenly the dust began to whip up wildly and a strong buzz filled the air. Avan’s glasses protected his eyes from the dirty cloud and looked up to the source of the noise. Above the scene was a helicopter. One that Avan recognized.

“That’s the helicopter for the news, isn’t it?” Harvey shouted.“Yeah. Keep low they are definitely recording this.” Avan noted.

“You didn’t forget about me?”

Avan looked towards the assaulted school corridor threw the dusty haze; it barely could be considered a building any more. A lot of the wall had been destroyed and the roof hung to the point of almost touching the ground. Electrical wires stuck out in every direction along with broken planks of the walls.

Kacy emerged from the building, other than a few scratches on his otherwise flawless skin and the grey covering his hair and clothes he was looking well.

“Kacy.” Avan said with guilt in his voice, noting that he had forgot about the blue haired male soon after Drimogemon attacked.

“Yeahhhh… I’m fine. Just so you know. Not that any of you were desperate trying to find me. How could you forget me? It’s not a party without me.” Kacy joked.

“I wouldn’t call this a party anyway.” Avan came to Kacy’s side; the man’s brown eyes were already fixed on the battle between Shettimon and Drimogemon.

“Have you tried your thing…?” Kacy asked Avan.

Avan arched an eyebrow before he realised what Kacy had meant.“Oh, my Fueller. That’s their name now according to the kid.” Avan pulled the yellow electronic out of his pocket.

“Because they fuel Digimon?” Kacy asked.

“Huh?” Avan looked at the pattern of neon yellow lights that now decorated the screen.

“They make the Digimon evolve; makes them stronger. It basically connects you with Shettimon if you give it enough energy then boom she’s an instant badass.” Kacy attempted to explain.

“Well, that’s a development. Let’s see this work.” Avan gripped the Fueller tight in his hand.

Tactically he snuck closer to the battle field. His heart pounded as he saw the state of his Digimon. She was clearly losing her strength and had been battered by Drimogemon a lot. Avan held the device tight.

“Alright. Just give it energy…” He thought clenching his eyes closed.

“Crusher Bone!”

“Come on... do something.”

“Acid Fire!”

“Work. Work.”

“Iron Drill Spin!”

“Shettimon.”

“Shettimon Digivolve To…”

In unison Avan’s Fueller and Shettimon burst into brilliant neon yellow. Through the glow you could see Shettimon’s form changing. Getting larger and becoming slender like a woman, though still remaining on all fours. Her ears became shorter and her hair longer. The light vanished in a flash and revealed the new champion Digimon in Shettimon’s place.

“Raowmon!”

The grey more cat-like Digimon dove straight at Drimogemon, throwing out her back legs she kicked it hard in the side sending it over onto the concrete in a hard heap.

“Now this is more like it.” Raowmon purred.

Drimogemon was onto his feet again.

“Mole Claw!”

The swipe clipped Raowmon and sent her tumbling into a nearby wooden bench. Raowmon got onto her paws and looked quickly and the damaged bit of outdoor furniture. In a movement she opened her mouth unnaturally wide and began to swallow the bench whole. With her chest puffed up she faced Drimogemon.

“Garbage Disposal!” She reflexed as if she were to vomit and spat up the planks of bench at an incredible speed into the other champion.

The projectiles hit it hard. Already tired from its fight with Shettimon it was obvious Drimogemon was beginning to fall. Now having to face Raowmon, who had a new boast of energy from her evolution; it was clear the fight wasn’t going to last much longer.

“Crusher Bone!” Drimogemon lazily threw the attack at its enemy.

Raowmon dodged the flying bone with ease.

“Is that it? You’ve given up on me now?” Raowmon teased.

She jumped forward and gave a few swift kicks and swipes into Drimogemon. The mole Digimon howled as the attacks hit its body.

“Swipe Spawn!” Raowmon brought down one of her gloved claws and collided it with the upset Drimogemon.

In a burst of data the fight was over and Drimogemon was no longer a threat.

“And that’s it?” Raowmon said just before she shrank back down to the form of Shettimon.

“I guess it is.” Avan looked to Kacy and the Norman brothers.

Harvey nodded, Bede looked awestruck and Kacy grinned.

“Not much to it.” Kacy smiled.

“STAY WHERE YOU ARE! THE SCHOOL IS ON LOCK DOWN!” A digital voice echoed around the destroyed area of the school.

Bede instinctively looked up towards the noise.

“It’s the helicopter. Don’t let them see you.” Avan put his head down.

“Come on! Run!” Harvey shouted dragging his brother with him.

The four males along with Shettimon took off. They wanted to avoid the News helicopter like the plague.

Jumping over broken bits of structures and cracked concrete. They came to the parking lot which was still reasonably in one piece and ran towards Kacy’s car.

“The license plate. That can’t be seen.”

“Ha-Ha!” Shettimon called spiting a glop of green goop over top of the numbers on the back of Kacy’s roadster.

“Gross.” Kacy complained but the still got into the front seat of his car.

Harvey directed the slight limping Bede to the passenger’s seat and hopped onto the back of the car with Avan. The car roared to life and they took off.

Avan held on with his fingertips as the car sped out of the school grounds and down the road.

The following day Avan had his thumb pressed firmly to the button of his Fueller.

“So what are we to do now? Wait around for another ‘mon to show up?” Avan said into the yellow device.

“I guess we do.” Bede’s voice said in reply.

“Can’t we just go with the thought that it might not happen again?” Kacy’s voice asked.

“We can’t really assume that though.” Avan replied.

“I think we need to meet up and discuss some things.” It was Harvey’s voice this time.

“Interesting to see you wanting to work this out and get involved.” Kacy’s smug voice said.

“No. I’m talking about what I am looking at right now.” Harvey’s voice was filled with concern.

“We’re the stars on the news.”
